Interior layout as per plan – Faux leather benches

Banquettes for a café. For this café project, the client's plan included custom-made fixed benches along a wall.

Atelier Guggisberg's mission was to design and create these custom-made benches while taking into account several specific constraints:

  1. conceal the radiator behind the seat without blocking heat circulation,
  2. to integrate perfectly into an already prepared base,
  3. respect the height under the window in order to maintain the opening, and
  4. produce the modules in dimensions compatible with transport in small utility vehicles.

Production locale

Each element was custom-made in our workshop in Rolle. The dimensions were adjusted to the millimeter to follow the lines of the wall—especially the opening and closing of the windows—and to respect the circulation areas. This precision ensures perfectly integrated furniture and optimal comfort for users.

The choice of high-quality faux leather fabric, supplied by a company in Münchenstein, Switzerland, and the robust design ensure durability suitable for intensive use. The meticulous finishing touches harmonize with the idea that the café should be easy to clean, while still maintaining the design aesthetic.

Installation and Finishing

The installation—always a delicate stage in a project—required millimeter precision.

The finishing was adapted on-site. Each module had to fit together perfectly, without leaving any gaps; in other words, the joints had to be as invisible as possible. To achieve this, the finishing had to be done on-site.

Thanks to the preparatory work done in the workshop, installation was carried out quickly and without any unpleasant surprises, precisely adhering to the execution plans and avoiding costly adjustments.

The result: a set of continuous, custom-made benches that supports the architectural intent while meeting the practical requirements of a high-traffic space.

This project illustrates the value of custom-made fabrication and close collaboration between the client/architect and the workshop.
